Position description
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Administrative and Operational Support: This role involves assisting the Operations team with a range of administrative tasks that support the smooth functioning of the office. Key responsibilities include managing matter openings and closings, processing billing, formatting documents, overseeing office supply inventory, handling incoming and outgoing mail, and welcoming visitors. The role also includes monitoring and responding to requests received through the paralegal and operations inboxes to ensure timely and effective action.
Legal Research and Document PreparationA core aspect of the role is conducting legal research, gathering facts, and retrieving relevant information to support legal work. The position involves analysing and summarising legal documents, as well as preparing initial drafts of legal materials such as contracts, file notes, and policies. These drafts are then reviewed and finalised by lawyers. The role also includes performing first reviews of agreements, proofreading tender documents, and contributing to the development of policy documents.
Client-Focused Legal SupportWorking closely with lawyers, the role supports the preparation of legal advice for clients. This includes organising case files, gathering and interpreting legal authorities such as statutes and decisions, and drafting training materials. Additional responsibilities include preparing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) materials and drafting training modules that may be presented to clients, ensuring content is accurate and tailored to client needs.
