Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students – Student Internship Program

About the internship
Hive Legal recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and heritages as a proud part of Australia’s shared national identity.
This Student Internship Program is designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students who are seeking practical legal experience aligned with their course requirements and career goals.
The program combines hands on work experience with structured learning and close supervision. Alongside day to day legal tasks, interns participate in a learning focused program that provides insight into how a law firm operates. Interns gain practical skills and confidence while being supported in a culturally respectful and inclusive workplace.
No prior legal work experience is required, only a willingness to learn and get involved.

Support, culture and wellbeing
Hive Legal promotes a supportive and inclusive workplace where interns are matched with a buddy to help them navigate their experience and feel confident in their role. Wellbeing and culture are central to how we work, and we aim to create an environment where people feel respected, supported and encouraged to learn and grow.
Hive Legal also recognises the importance of cultural practices, including Sorry Business, which may require time away for ceremonies and other events. Where this occurs, Hive Legal is willing to extend the internship period to ensure interns feel respected, supported and valued throughout their time with the firm.
