This marks an important milestone in our reconciliation journey and builds on the foundations established through our Reflect RAP and first Innovate RAP. It reflects both the progress we have made and our continued commitment to meaningful, sustained action.
Our ongoing commitment
This is Hive’s third RAP and our second Innovate RAP. It represents a deliberate step forward in deepening our impact - moving beyond intention and embedding reconciliation into how we work every day.
As a legal firm, we recognise the role we can play in supporting equity, cultural safety and inclusion. Our RAP focuses on:
- Strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities
- Building cultural capability across our team
- Creating employment, mentoring and professional development opportunities
- Increasing procurement from First Nations businesses
- Providing pro bono support where it can have meaningful impact
These commitments are not new. They build on the work already embedded across our firm, from cultural learning and policy reform to community engagement and pro bono contributions.
Reflecting on our journey
Over the past six years, we have taken steps to integrate reconciliation into our day-to-day practices.
This includes embedding Acknowledgement of Country across our work, strengthening policies to support cultural safety, participating in key reconciliation events, and expanding our cultural learning programs.
Importantly, we have also reflected on where we can do better. Our experience has reinforced the importance of ongoing listening, strong governance, and meaningful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.
These learnings have directly shaped this next phase of our RAP.
Our vision for reconciliation
Our vision is for an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, histories and rights are recognised, respected and valued.
We aspire to a legal sector grounded in integrity, fairness and cultural safety, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples experience genuine equality and inclusion as professionals, clients and collaborators.
This vision is guided by our values - excellence, courage, character, creativity and collaboration - and underpins how we approach our work and relationships.
What comes next
Our focus is on implementing this RAP in a way that is practical, accountable and embedded across the firm. This includes clear governance through our RAP Working Group, ongoing engagement with First Nations stakeholders, and transparent reporting on our progress.
We know that reconciliation requires consistency, humility and action over time. We remain committed to learning, listening and working in partnership as we continue this journey.
